Montgomery County Public Libraries and Maryland State Library seek feedback from the Deaf community on what information should be included in its new Maryland Deaf Culture Digital Library (Maryland DCDL) website. The 18-question survey can be accessed online through September 30.

The new website will be the digital path to the Maryland DCDL, which is a one-stop statewide information center on Deaf resources for Maryland residents and library staff at public libraries, colleges and universities. The new website is expected to launch early winter 2018.

Montgomery County Public Libraries hosts the current website that features information and resources on American Sign Language and Deaf Culture to include history, literature, and the arts. There are direct links to e-books and e-audio books on Deaf Culture through Maryland’s Digital eLibrary Consortium (through OverDrive).

The Maryland General Assembly established the Maryland DCDL on May 15, 2014. The Maryland State Library selected Montgomery County Public Libraries to host and manage the Maryland DCDL.
