Check out a Chromebook Bundle

FAQs

A Chromebook is a laptop that runs the Chrome operating system made by Google. They are used with the Google Chrome browser and are known for their portability and ease of use for your everyday tasks.

  • 1 Chromebook
  • 1 Mobile Beacon Hotspot in a carrying case/bag
  • 2 chargers with cords

The checkout period is 21 days. You can renew a Chromebook bundle up to four times, as long as the bundle is not overdue or on hold by another library customer.

You need to be 16 years of age or older with a valid library card in good standing. Chromebook/hotspot bundles cannot be checked out under a Kids Card or PACREG.

Customers must return the bundle to the branch where it was checked out. Bundles cannot be returned through the Book Drop. They can be returned via Curbside appointment or by calling the branch.  At the time of return, CCPL staff will inspect the Chromebook and hotspot to check their condition.

Please note: once you return the bundle, all documents/files will be deleted from the Chromebook. Make sure you save your documents before returning.

If your Chromebook bundle is overdue, both devices are automatically turned off. You will need to return the entire Chromebook/hotspot bundle by returning it to the branch where it was checked out. They can be returned via Curbside appointment or by calling the branch.

If one is available, you can check out a new bundle at that time.

Our hotspots will only work if the network’s signal reaches the area. We cannot guarantee connectivity, but you may wish to view the network coverage maps in the area that you will mainly use the hotspot to get a general idea of coverage. Coverage maps are not guaranteed.

If you feel that the mobile hotspot is broken, you can return the entire Chromebook/hotspot bundle back to the branch where you checked it out and inform a library staff member. CCPL staff will assist you in troubleshooting the issue, or trying to get you a replacement bundle if one is available.
