All you need for access is your library card number! Don’t have a library card? Get one here.

Once you log in with your library card number, you will be directed to the main search screen.  By clicking on “Publications” above the search bar, you can select the newspaper you’d like to view.  You can see the date range is listed under the publication title – some publications have two different links, one for older issues and one for more current issues.

After selecting the publication you wish to see, it will automatically default to the current day’s issue, but you can manually select a different date.  The results are sorted like you would read the newspaper, beginning with section A, page 1 (notated A.1.) and continuing through all the sections until the end of the issue.  Clicking on “Search within this issue” will bring up a search bar where you can enter keywords, and it will search the whole issue for you automatically!  The “Details” link under the title of the article will give you additional information such as subject links, author and location information, and other related articles from different issues.

To view the full text of the article, simply click on the title link.  There is a “translate” button that offers 19 language options!  You will notice some icons to the right to Save as PDF, cite the article, email it to yourself (or a friend!), or print it.  There are also some additional icons in the upper righthand corner that will allow you to see your recent searches, view your selected items, and Sign In/Create your “My Research” account.  The “My Research” tool is a great option if you want to keep track of all of your articles in one place for easy access.  There’s also a handy help tool created by ProQuest if you need additional guidance.  Finally, this page also displays related articles to the one you are currently viewing, which can be a big help if you are doing any kind of research!

We hope this brief introductory look at our US Major Dailies database offers some easy navigation tips to help get you started!
