CCPL News : John Wilkes Booth program comes to La Plata

Murder, Mystery, and a Mummy? Don’t miss out on this exciting new program coming to the La Plata Library on Saturday, April 9th 2005 at 10:30 am! On the 140th anniversary of Lee’s surrender at Appomattox, the Charles County Public Library will present a fascinating look at one of America’s most notorious villains.

“The Life and Death of John Wilkes Booth” is an event that no local resident should miss. Mr. Jeff Korman, manager of Enoch Pratt Library’s Maryland Collection, will share exciting details, lesser-known facts, and authentic historic documents from the State Library Resource Center collection. Mr. Korman’s lecture will address Booth’s life, motivations, flight through Charles County, and the mysterious circumstances surrounding the assassin’s death.
